Tired of paying a fortune for delivery pizza? Tired of greasy messes that taste like cardboard box in which they were delivered? Try making a pizza with real flavor! It’s so much easier than what you think!
And Because you are choosing the ingredients from dough to toppings, it will be a much healthier dish, with a lot better flavor, a no weird aftertaste. If you are trying to incorporate for fiber and good protein in your family’s diet ( without them noticing) try a combination of all-purpose and whole wheat flour.
Best of all, you may add as many or as few toppings as you like, or invent your new favorite. Use Part-skim mozzarella for a figure-friendly and low cholesterol version. Try chopping ham, salami, pepperoni, green bell peppers or what ever your family likes!
Ingredients: (for 1 1/2 inch thick, 14 inch round pizza)
For the dough:
3 to 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup warm water (baby bottle temperature)
1 Tbls active dry yeast (1 small pack)
1 tsp salt
2 Tbls canola oil
toppings:
1 cup tomato sauce
2 cups shredded mozzarella
1 clove garlic, minced
toppings of your choice: ripe olives, chopped onions, pepperoni slices, mushrooms
In a food processor, combine 2 cups of flour with undisolved yeast, and salt. Process for 10 seconds. Add the oil, continue to process adding the water, little by little through feed tube till a ball forms. Pay close attention to the consistency since all the water may not be needed. Continue processing 2 minutes to kneed the dough. Remove from processor and let rest in a covered bowl at room temperature for 30 minutes. By this time, the dough should be slightly puffy .
Sprinkle the pan with cornmeal, place dough on top. Punch dough down and shape to fit desired pan.Place the desired toppings on the pizza and bake in a 450 degree oven till cheese melts ( about 20 to 30 minutes). Baking time will depend on the thickness of the crust and selected toppings. Slice into eights and serve immediately. Enjoy!
Still not convinced? Each pizza is definitely soy- free and costs 5 times less that delivery, about 3 times less than frozen and takes less than an hour from start to finish and it’s so easy. You can do it!!
